IPOH: An owner of a telecommunication company was fined a total of RM40,000 by the Sessions Court here today on eight charges with failing to submit the Goods and Services Tax (GST) statement to the Royal Customs Department.

Judge Murtazadi Amran meted out the fine of RM5,000 on each charge, in default six months' jail, on Wong Kean Yik, 35, who pleaded guilty to the charges.

Before meting out the fine, Murtazadi said he had taken into account several factors, including public interest, and also the implication arising from the failure to submit the statement to the Customs Department.

IPOH: Cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Hasmiza Othman, popularly known as 'Dr Vida', was charged at the Sessions Court here today with failing to pay the Goods and Services Tax (GST) totaling more than RM4 million.

The founder of Vida Beauty Sdn Bhd was slapped with 32 counts under two offences according to the Goods and Services Tax Act 2014, namely for failing to pay the tax and for failing to produce GST statements.

TANAH MERAH - Mahkamah Majistret, di sini, semalam, memerintahkan sebuah syarikat perkayuan membayar tuntutan cukai GST berjumlah RM68,021.40 secara rundingan dengan Jabatan Kastam Diraja Malaysia (JKDM).

Keputusan dibuat Majistret Mohd Isa Mohamed selepas mendapati saman sivil dikemukakan JKDM Kelantan menunjukkan syarikat terbabit gagal melunaskan bayaran penuh tuntutan GST dalam tempoh bercukai ditetapkan.

Syarikat milikan tunggal, Perkayuan Era Baru yang beralamat di Kampung Banggol Kemunting, dekat sini, didakwa gagal membuat bayaran penuh tuntutan GST bagi tempoh bercukai dari 1 April 2015 hingga 30 Jun 2016.

Kegagalan syarikat terbabit membayar GST yang dituntut selepas penyata dikemukakan kepada JKDM bagi tempoh bercukai tersebut merupakan satu kesalahan di bawah Seksyen 41(4) Akta GST 2014.

IPOH: A mobile phone shop owner was slapped with eight charges over his failure to submit the Goods and Services Tax (GST) statement for the period of May until December last year.

Wong Kean Yik, 35, the owner of Sun Yi Telecommunication Trading, pleaded guilty to all charges which were read to him by a court translator in front of Sessions Court judge Murtazadi Amran.

Wong was charged with failure to submit the GST statements from May until December 2015 under Section 41(1) of the Goods and Services Tax Act 2014. All the offences fell under Section 41 (6) of the same Act.

They are punishable with a fine not exceeding RM50,000 for each charge or imprisonment of up to three years, or both, for each count.

PUTRAJAYA: Orang yang sudah layak berdaftar bagi Cukai Barang dan Perkhidmatan (GST) tetapi masih mempunyai tunggakan cukai tahun 2015 diberi tempoh hingga 31 Oktober ini untuk menjelaskan tunggakan cukai terbabit.

Ketua Pengarah Kastam, Datuk Seri Khazali Ahmad, menegaskan sekiranya gagal membayar tunggakan cukai selepas 31 Oktober ini, orang berdaftar akan dikenakan tindakan kompaun hingga maksimum RM20,000.

SEREMBAN: Mahkamah Sesyen di sini, hari ini, memerintahkan seorang pemilik syarikat membayar tuntutan Cukai Barang dan Perkhidmatan (GST) berjumlah RM195,835 kepada Jabatan Kastam Diraja Malaysia (JKDM).

Hakim N Kanageswari, membuat keputusan itu terhadap Wong Sing Fei, 35, selepas menilai notis tuntutan yang dikemukakan oleh JKDM berikutan kegagalan defendan membuat bayaran antara 1 September hingga 31 Oktober tahun lalu.

Pegawai kastam menyiasat restoran Nasi Kandar Line Clear susulan aduan pelanggan yang resit tidak dikeluarkan selepas bayaran dibuat.

GEORGE TOWN: Restoran Nasi Kandar Line Clear yang terkenal di Penang Road di sini diserbu pegawai kastam malam tadi susulan menerima aduan daripada pelanggan yang restoran itu tidak mengeluarkan resit GST (invois cukai).

Kira-kira 9 malam semalam, pegawai kastam yang berpakaian biasa menyamar sebagai pelanggan, mula membuat pemerhatian untuk mengenal pasti sama ada pelanggan diberikan invois cukai atau tidak.

KUALA LUMPUR: About 95% of some 420,000 companies have been submitting the goods and services tax (GST) monthly return statements since its implementation over a year ago.

Royal Malaysian Customs Department director-general Datuk Seri Khazali Ahmad said the higher submission rate was indicative of the smooth implementation of the system.

IPOH: In what is said to be the first such case in the country, two men have claimed trial to 12 counts of making fraudulent claims on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) totalling RM945,123.
Businessmen Mok Siew Khuen and Ahmad Zawawi Abdul Rahim, both 49, were charged with five and seven counts respectively under Section 89 (1)(b) of the GST Act 2014 at the Sessions Court here yesterday.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Customs Department will launch the Customs Blue Ocean Strategy Operation (Ops CBOS) in phases from Sept 1 to audit companies registered for the goods and services Tax (GST).

Director Datuk Seri Khazali Ahmad said that about 50,000 companies have been identified in the first phase. The audit is to ensure that they are on the right track, he said.

KUALA LUMPUR: A petrol station owner was today fined RM72,000 by the Sessions Court on nine charges of failing to submit the Goods and Services Tax (GST) return forms for her business last year.

Nur Izzati Beatrice Haekal Ngauh, 42, pleaded guilty to committing the offence of failing to submit the GST-03 tax return form for the months of April till December, 2015 at Lot 17774, Jalan 2, Taman Desa Jaya Kepong, near here, on June 2, last year.

She was fined RM8,000 in default of three months jail, for each of the nine charges.

KOTA KINABALU: Empat syarikat di Sabah didakwa dan dikenakan kompaun selepas gagal menyediakan resit mengandungi butiran Cukai Barang dan Perkhidmatan (GST) sejak sistem percukaian itu diperkenalkan tahun lalu. Pengarah Jabatan Kastam Diraja Malaysia (JKDM) Sabah, Datuk Janathan Kandok, berkata kesalahan itu dikesan menerusi pemantauan pegawai JKDM di seluruh negeri. "Syarikat terbabit sudah diambil tindakan dan dikompaun RM5,000. Selain berdasarkan pemantauan, kita menerima dan menyiasat aduan orang ramai berkaitan kesalahan GST. "Kebanyakan yang melakukan kesalahan ini ialah kedai runcit dan restoran," katanya kepada pemberita selepas menyampaikan hadiah kepada pemenang Peraduan Jom Minta Resit GST, di sini, sebentar tadi. Beliau berkata, pemantauan berterusan akan dilakukan bagi mengesan peniaga atau syarikat yang masih gagal mematuhi peraturan GST di seluruh negeri. Terdahulu, Janathan berkata, Sabah mencatat jumlah pemenang Peraduan Jom Minta Resit GST paling ramai iaitu 118 orang daripada 2,876 orang pemenang yang dipilih di seluruh negara. Beliau berkata, peraduan itu adalah usaha JKDM meningkatkan kesedaran orang ramai mengenai kepentingan menyimpan resit sebagai rujukan, selain mengenal pasti sama ada sesebuah premis mengenakan GST atau tidak. Katanya, tuntutan hadiah bagi pemenang peraduan itu di Sabah boleh dibuat di pejabat GST JKDM Tanjung Aru, manakala di pantai timur negeri ini tuntutan boleh dibuat di pejabat GST JKDM Sandakan atau Tawau.

KUALA TERENGGANU- Gara-gara gagal mengeluarkan invois cukai barang dan perkhidmatan (GST) pada Mei tahun lalu, seorang pemilik kedai barangan perkakasan didenda RM5,000 oleh Mahkamah Sesyen Kuala Terengganu, di sini, semalam.

KUALA LUMPUR: Sebuah syarikat pengendali restoran char kuey teow di ibu kota hari ini didenda RM9,000 oleh Mahkamah Sesyen di sini kerana tidak mengutip Cukai Barang dan Perkhidmatan (GST) daripada pelanggan tahun lalu.

Hakim Shamsudin Abdullah juga memerintahkan Mali's Corner Sdn Bhd membayar 95 sen GST kepada Jabatan Kastam Diraja Malaysia kerana tidak mengutip cukai itu dalam satu resit.
Syarikat itu membayar denda berkenaan.
